In 1957, the late Rev. Fr. S.M. Swaminathan, the Parish Priest of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Klang then, used the ceased to function Parochial School Building (St. Bernadette) to hold Kindergarten classes. The Kindergarten got its name in the year 1962, inspired by the La Salle Brothers who established La Salle School in Klang somewhere around the 1940s. Over 50 years later, the La Salle Kindergarten continues to offer pre-school education for all children irrespective of race and religion.
We are proud to say that La Salle Kindergarten is one of the oldest pre-school institutions in Klang which caters for poor and underprivileged children. The Kindergarten is registered under the Ministry of Education & Welfare Department, offering 5 basic subjects which are Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, Science and Moral. Not forgetting the People’s Own Language classes such as Mandarin, Tamil and religious subjects such as Agama. Besides that, Arts & Crafts, Music & Movement and Computer Learning are some of the teaching methodologies adopted to enhance the creativity and skills of the students.
Apart from academics, the Kindergarten also conducts outdoor activities such as Sports Day, Concerts, Outings, Children’s Day etc. annually. These activities are to tap into the talents and skills of every child to help them grow holistically.
This Integrated Educational Institute has faithfully kept its legacy of serving the poor and the needy over the years with the continued support of every resident Parish Priest and the management staff.
Intakes include Nursery (age 4), Kindergarten (age 5) & Preschool (age 6). To know more about La Salle Kindergarten, kindly contact the Parish office at 03-33713053.
